Western Union's money transfer service in Belarus has been suspended since March 24, 2022

Western Union's money transfer services to and from Belarus have been suspended since March 24, 2022. This suspension is a result of international sanctions and private boycotts against Belarus and Russia.

If you sent money to Belarus before March 24, 2022, and the receiver did not pick up the transfer before that date, the money will be refunded to you. The transaction, including principal and fees, will be refunded to the sender's original payment method. If you used a credit card for the transaction, you will need to contact customer care to process the refund if the transaction is older than one year.

If you sent money from Belarus to other countries before March 24, 2022, the transfer will be available for the receiver to pick up outside of Belarus and Russia at any time.

If you are in Belarus and wish to receive a refund, you can do so at any time from BSB Bank in Belarus. If you are outside of Belarus, you should contact the Western Union Service Center to clarify your refund options.

As of November 2024, Western Union's website states that they do not anticipate resuming their services in Belarus in 2022.

If you sent money to Russia and Belarus before March 24, 2022, and it has not yet been picked up by the receiver, the transfer will be refunded to you, the sender. If you sent money via the Western Union website or mobile app, your refund will be applied to your original payment method and processed within 5-7 business days from March 25, 2022. If you sent money using a Western Union retail location, you can use your original MTCN and identification to pick up your refund at any Western Union agent location. If your transaction was made over a year ago using a credit card, you will need to contact customer care to process the refund.

For customers who have sent money from Belarus to other countries (except Russia) prior to March 24, 2022, the transfer will be available to the receiver outside of Belarus at any time.
