This consortium allowed students at Brunswick Junior College to benefit from opportunities to begin their schooling at the community college and then complete their education in one of seven bachelor's or graduate degree programs through one of the two universities.

In 1988, the college name reverted to Brunswick College, and during the late 1980s and 1990s, it evolved into a comprehensive community college, offering a wide range of associate degrees and vocational and technical certificate programs. The college changed its name to Coastal Georgia Community College in 1996 and opened a satellite location, the Camden Center, in Kingsland in 2004 to serve the growing population of Camden County.

Student Housing – The college offers on-campus and off-campus housing options. Lakeside Village, built in 2011, is a Phase 1 on-campus housing facility providing 350 beds. It features suite-style dorms with individual bedrooms connected to a common living area. In 2012, the college also converted a former hotel into off-campus housing, known as Coastal Place Apartments, offering residential apartments for approximately 132 students. In 2016, the college opened Mariner Village, a 216-bed housing facility as part of a public-private partnership.

The Camden Center at the Lakes is an off-campus instructional site located in Kingsland, Georgia. It offers an auditorium, classrooms, laboratories, and a Library/Learning Resources Center with computers, printers, and tutoring services. The Camden Center provides a total of 101,793 square feet of instructional and support space.
