The Bahrain Grand Prix has been a feature of the Formula One calendar every year since 2004, except for 2011 when it was cancelled due to the Bahraini protests. The first race was won by Michael Schumacher, driving for Ferrari.
The Bahrain Grand Prix has been dominated by two drivers in the last decade: Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Vettel has won four times in Bahrain, taking the chequered flag in 2012, 2013, 2017 and 2018. Hamilton has won the race five times, making him the most successful driver in the circuit's history.
