G7 Summit Location: Bavaria's Elmau Castle

The 2022 G7 Summit took place in Schloss Elmau, a luxury hotel in the Bavarian Alps, from 26 to 28 June. This was the second time the G7 Summit was held in Schloss Elmau, the first being in 2015. Schloss Elmau

Following World War II, Müller lost control of Schloss Elmau in 1947, and it became a sanatorium for displaced persons and Holocaust survivors. In 1951, Müller's children acquired the lease for the building and set up a hotel. Soon, Schloss Elmau became primarily known for its cultural events, especially classical music concerts and literary events.

In 2005, a fire destroyed a large part of the building. Dietmar Mueller-Elmau, the grandson of the original builder, then had it rebuilt as a luxury spa and hideaway. Schloss Elmau meets all the logistical and security requirements for a G7 Summit venue. The German government chose it as the location for the 41st G7 Summit in 2015, and again in 2022, marking the second time the summit has been held at the hotel.

Bavarian Alps

The Bavarian Alps, or 'Bayerische Alpen' in German, are a collective name for several mountain ranges of the Northern Limestone Alps within the German state of Bavaria.
