The Special Services Division provides physical training, including medical techniques, water survival, methods of arrest, and self-protection. They also offer driver training, with special courses for four-wheel-drive vehicles, and firearms training. The Police and Investigator Training Division teaches the legal, criminalistics, communications, human relations, and investigative aspects of law enforcement. The length of the courses varies from 2 to 16 weeks, depending on the responsibilities of the individual. In addition to the basic training programs, the FLETC also offers advanced in-service courses ranging from 1 to 8 weeks in length, covering specialized subjects such as advanced law enforcement photography and special problems in alcohol, tobacco, and firearms enforcement.

The FLETC in Glynco is situated on 1,600 acres of land and has modern conventional facilities, including classrooms, dormitories, administrative and logistical support structures, and a dining hall that can serve over 4,000 meals daily. The center has 18 firearms ranges, including an indoor range complex and semi-enclosed ranges, as well as a driver training complex, a physical techniques facility, an explosives range, and a mock port of entry for practical exercises. The classroom buildings also house special areas such as a library, interviewing suites, mock courtrooms, and laboratories for computer forensics, fingerprinting, and narcotics identification.

The FLETC has partnerships with various international law enforcement academies (ILEAs) worldwide, including in Botswana, El Salvador, Peru, Hungary, and Thailand. It also collaborates with state, local, campus, and tribal law enforcement agencies through the Rural Policing Institute (RPI) and the Office of State and Local Training, providing tuition-free and low-cost training opportunities. In 2003, the FLETC transferred from the Treasury Department to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), reflecting the importance of its mission in supporting homeland security efforts.

The College of Coastal Georgia
