Rutgers Student Health is an official vaccine dispensary and provides a full range of vaccines, including routine immunizations and allergy shots. The Rutgers Student Health Services Office is an official vaccine dispensary and provides a full range of vaccines. The following vaccines are available:

• Human papillomavirus (HPV)
• Influenza (the flu) – inactive
• Measles/mumps/rubella (MMR)
• Meningococcal ACYW disease (bacterial meningitis)
• Meningococcal B disease (bacterial meningitis)
• Pneumococcal pneumonia

Operating Hours

The Rutgers Student Health Services Office is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and on Thursdays from 8 am to 8 pm. Walk-in and same-day visits are welcome when the office is open and are based on availability. Emergency coverage by on-call physicians is provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Rutgers Health Services Vaccines

Rutgers Health Services provides a full range of vaccines and is an official vaccine dispensary. Rutgers Student Health Services will only administer allergy injections if there is a completed allergy packet with information from the patient's allergist. This includes the frequency of injections, the expiration date of the serum, and instructions for late or missed injections.

On the Piscataway/New Brunswick Campus, student health services are provided at the Department of Family Medicine at Monument Square, 317 George Street, First Floor, New Brunswick. The services provided free of charge to students include routine physical examinations, preventative care, tuberculosis screening and monitoring, immunization review and health education, women's health services, minor surgery, and management of exposure to bloodborne pathogens.

Additionally, Rutgers Health Services offers travel vaccines, which are recommended for those who are travelling to ensure they are up to date with routine vaccinations and have received vaccines specific to their destination.

Immunization Requirements for Rutgers University

Rutgers University has a number of immunization requirements that must be met by students. All new and transfer students must comply with New Jersey State and University Immunization Requirements. This includes the COVID-19 vaccine, although as of April 1, 2024, Rutgers no longer requires students, faculty, staff, and university affiliates to be immunized against the COVID-19 virus. The CDC continues to recommend vaccination, especially for those with underlying medical conditions.

Students must provide proof of health records and certain immunizations, including:

• Annual tuberculosis screening is required of all students, with test performance and interpretation following CDC guidelines.
• Students must complete a series of the Hepatitis B vaccine.
• Influenza vaccine is required for all students who have patient contact by December 1 of that year.
• Clinical students must receive the influenza vaccine for each flu season.
• The state of New Jersey requires all university/college students to have received two doses of the MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccine.
• Meningitis ACYW and Meningitis B vaccines are required for students under the age of 19, first-year college or university students living on campus regardless of age, and students considered high risk for meningitis.

Additionally, clinical students must have a 2-step PPD or FDA-approved TB blood test prior to matriculation within 6 months of their enrollment date.
