The Rutgers Scarlet Knights field hockey team has represented Rutgers University – New Brunswick, the university's main campus, since the establishment of the hockey program in 1974. The team competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Prior to this, they were a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10) from 1988 to 1994, the original Big East Conference from 1995 to 2012, and the new Big East Conference in 2013.
