New Brunswick's Unique Time Zones

New Brunswick is divided into zones for various purposes, including health and equestrian communities. Zone 3 covers the communities of Minto, Chipman, Cambridge-Narrows, Oromocto, Gagetown, Fredericton Junction, New Maryland, Kingsclear, Lincoln, Nackawic, McAdam, Canterbury, Douglas, Saint Marys, Doaktown, Florenceville-Bristol, Woodstock, and Wakefield.

Health Zone 4: Madawaska and North-West Area

This zone includes the communities of Kedgwick, Saint-Quentin, Grimmer, Grand Falls, Saint-Léonard, Drummond, Edmundston, Rivière-Verte, and Lac Baker.

Health Zone 5: Restigouche Area

Zone 5 comprises the communities of Campbellton, Atholville, Tide Head, Dalhousie, Balmoral, and Belledune.

Health Zone 6: Bathurst and Acadian Peninsula Area

This zone includes the communities of Bathurst, Beresford, Petit-Rocher, Caraquet, Paquetville, Bertrand, Shippagan, Lamèque, Inkerman, Tracadie, and Saint-Isidore.

Health Zone 7: Miramichi Area

The communities in this zone include Neguac, Alnwick, Esgenoopetitj, Miramichi, Rogersville, and Blackville.

Equestrian zones

The New Brunswick Equestrian Association (NBEA) is a not-for-profit organisation that provides education, leadership, and support to individuals, associations, and businesses in New Brunswick's horse community. The NBEA is further divided into eight regional zones, each represented by a zone representative or zone committee. These zones include the Capital Region Equestrian Association (Zone 3) and the Western Valley Zone Equestrian Association (Zone 2).

Zone representatives are responsible for sharing information with members about clinics, competitions, and events in their region. They also access regional funding through the NB Department of Wellness, Culture, and Sport, which supports educational opportunities and events within the zones.

The NBEA provides a range of services, programs, and benefits to its members, including personal liability insurance and accident insurance for those who ride, handle, or work with horses. The association also acts as a liaison with Equestrian Canada, the national governing body, and supports athlete development, coaching certification, and officials' training.

Health zone 2: Fundy Shore and Saint John Area

The boundaries of these health zones were modified in 2018 and redefined in December 2022 with an amendment to the Regional Health Authorities Act.

This area includes more than 40 communities, such as Andover, Aroostook, Arthurette, Bath, and Beechwood. The zone is served by two community health centres, the Hartland Health Centre and the Tobique Valley Community Health Centre, as well as the Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville and the Hotel-Dieu of St. Joseph in Perth-Andover.

The Fredericton and River Valley Area has a range of health services and initiatives in place to serve its residents. The zone is home to several community mental health centres, including locations in Fredericton and Woodstock, offering support for mental health and addictions. The Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton provides psychiatric services, and the zone also includes satellite clinics in Perth-Andover and Fredericton.
