Belize Entry Visa

Travel and Health

There are no COVID-19 restrictions for entering Belize. However, it is recommended that all eligible travellers complete a COVID-19 vaccine series in Canada before travelling. There is a risk of hepatitis A, hepatitis B, measles, influenza, chikungunya, dengue, and Zika virus in Belize, so get vaccinated and take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.

Driving

You can drive in Belize with a valid Canadian driver's licence for up to three months and should carry an international driving permit. The minimum age for renting a car is 25, and you must have a minimum of 12 months of driving experience.

Other Entry Requirements

All visitors to Belize must have a valid passport, a 30-day round-trip ticket, and sufficient funds ($75 per day) to cover their stay. Customs officials may also ask to see a return or onward ticket and proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay.

Extending a stay in Belize

To extend your stay in Belize beyond 30 days, you will need to visit an immigration office and apply for a 'Belize Visitor's Permit Extension'. This extension allows you to stay in Belize for an additional 30 days. The fee for the extension is BZ$200.00 for all nationalities.

To qualify for the extension, you must not enter into any form of employment, paid or unpaid, and must not engage in any business or profession without the consent of the Director of Immigration. You must also not remain in Belize beyond the expiration of the extension.

If you require a visa after a predefined number of extended days in Belize, you must acquire that visa before being issued a visitor's permit extension.
