Photo requirements

To get a Rutgers ID card, you must upload a photo online. This can be done via your enrollment pathway. If your school or program does not use the enrollment pathway, you can visit Online Photo Submission to upload your photo.

• The photo must be a clear, colour image of your face, taken against a plain background.
• Ensure your face is fully visible and centred in the frame, with no shadows or glares obscuring your features.
• Do not wear sunglasses, hats, or other items that cover your face or head. Religious headwear is permitted as long as it does not cast shadows on your face.
• Keep a neutral expression and keep your mouth closed.
• Ensure your photo has good lighting and is in focus.
• Photos should be in JPEG or JPG format and should not exceed 1MB in size.
• The photo should be a recent depiction of yourself.

Additional Tips:

• If you find your card after suspending it, you won't be able to reactivate it. You will still need to pay for a replacement card.

Replacement fees
