Rivaling Venice is the first step in getting maximum PUs as Austria. This is because, by selecting Venice as your only rival, you can take the mission to seize Brescia or Verona, which will spawn 100% of the time.
The next step is to declare war on Venice on December 11, 1444. Though they may be allied with Savoy and/or Genoa, you will still win the war. Take Friuli, Treviso, and Verona from Venice. This generates 50 AE with most people outside of the immediate AE range. If you make peace from December 25 to December 30, the AE will drop by the end of the year, and the coalition will be very small, with no major powers joining.
