Obtaining a New or Replacement RU ID Card

The RU ID Card Service Center is located at 249 University Avenue, 3rd Floor - Blumenthal Hall on the Newark campus. The centre offers both mail and in-person options for obtaining an RU ID card during scheduled office hours.

Mail Service

To request a new or replacement ID card sent to your home mailing address, you must complete an information survey that will be sent to your email. ID cards requested by mail will not be available for in-person pickup and will be mailed within 7-10 days of receiving the completed survey. There is a $20 fee for all lost/replacement cards, payable upon request.

Eligible students in these programs have access to Rutgers University libraries and computer labs by special arrangement, but not recreation facilities or sporting events.

How to replace a lost RU ID card

If you've lost your RU ID card, there are a few steps you can take to replace it. Firstly, it is recommended that you suspend your lost card by sending an email to [email protected] from your Rutgers email account. This will prevent anyone else from accessing your accounts or services. Please note that this action is permanent, and you will have to pay a replacement fee for a new card, even if you find your old card.

Next, you should notify the University Libraries at one of the circulation desks so that borrowing privileges associated with the barcode on the lost or stolen RU ID card can be suspended. If you have a meal plan and raider dollars, you will need to contact Dining Services by phone at 973.353.1274 or by email at [email protected].

To regain your building access, you must contact the individual access control coordinators for the different facilities and areas you previously had access to. A list of access control coordinators can be found at http://pst.rutgers.edu/bldgcoord.php.

Finally, you can request a replacement RU ID card by contacting the myRUN Supportal to have one mailed to you. There is a $20 replacement fee for all lost, stolen, or intentionally damaged RU ID cards. This fee is non-refundable.
